Day 21 (4 May) - Alice Springs

What it's like to be saved by RFDS

Alice Springs
No car and now no van.  Very wierd feeling.  Found someone to fix the van.  Paid him extra to pick van up this morning at 8.30am. (well - we had no car to get van to him!!!) Very anxious to leave tomorrow with everything back in working order.  Can you hear the desperation in my voice/writing..............!

Jasper: Today we went to The School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (or the RFDS).  The School of the Air was really interesting.  We watched a class of grade 1 learning, then watched a short movie on what the school is all about.  That was really interesting.  Next was the RFDS which John Flynn started.  (He is on the $20 note).  We  watched a movie about how the RFDS operates now then went through a museum with lots of planes and old medical kits. We finished up at Todd Mall which is the main shopping street.  We all got a little something each.

Kate: Can you believe that car was finished early and the van was also fixed on time - with everything now back in working order.  A night to celebrate in some really dodgy restaurant where we are the only ones there - but who cares!!!  We are happy, happy, happy!!!!
